If anyone thinks that leaving one's country of origin is easy, then this controversial new play on asylum seekers and refugees will probably leave you with second thoughts.
In "If Only The Dead Could Listen" the sensitive issue of immigration is approached without the patronising Political Correctness so prevalent today in Politics, Social Sciences and Theatre. The characters are essentially naive idealists: they lay bare before you their initial hopes, endless frustrations and ongoing personal tragedies. You are not expected to pity them; they do not pity themselves. Rather, this bold new writing gives the opportunity to see for yourselves what it really means to be a refugee or an asylum seeker, to "eavesdrop" into the intimate sorrows of those 'strangers' we so often see as statistics, spongers, and a threat to our cosy living.
At time shocking, at times humorous, but always thought provoking. You will be disturbed!
